CreativesOnCall's 2017 Predictions for Creative Positions

Looking into our crystal ball for 2017 and looking back at the last 11 months of 2016, there are positive and innovative new career opportunities coming our way. Ones that will continue to elevate design and make mega-rock-star status out of the crème of the crop creative class - even within the non-design related corporations and organizations.

CreativesOnCall and our clients at large, saw 2016 as a year of revitalization of marketing and instructional communications. Mass communication and content development within all digital media formats was universally this year’s meat and potatoes (as it has been for the last 3 years running). In early 2016, many corporations planned to spend significant time and money revamping their tools; heartening results of those First & Second Quarter initiatives prompted many of our clients to expanded their budgets mid-year – capitalizing on their ROI’s with advanced projects. 

CreativesOnCall saw a 58% increase in instructional design, training, and content development as well as scads of updates to digital publications; almost all of the content development was swaddled in new design.  Much of this design work was slick in nature with impressive digital assets, using what is now mainstream technologies like Google Cardboard and Oculus. Over 35% of CreativesOnCall’s teams were activated to work on these kinds of projects. Our prediction is that this trend will continue to roll through to the end of this year and will increase 2x by Second Quarter. SOW & RFP’s are being requested by many of the top Fortune 500 companies in the Midwest - specifically requests for creative individuals and talent teams that can rise to the occasion with the newest technology trends. 

This year the hire for Chief Marketing Officers (CMO’s) rose 15% for corporations around the globe. CreativesOnCall predicts that in 2017, Chief Design Officer (CDO) or Chief Creative Officer (CCO) titles will take their rightful place upon the Executive Level lines among inmpressive company organizational charts. We believe these enterprising positions will shift the design development race; thus adding more (and much needed) investment dollars to hire innovative designers & creatives internally.
